Obituary of Edward J. Williams

Williams, Edward J. 81, long time resident of Sun City Center, FL left our world to be with his Savior on October 20, 2009. Ed was born October 4, 1928 in Reading, PA to Ernest H.E. Williams and Martha Rentschler Williams. After high school he entered the U.S. Air Force, served 22 years, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He joined Mellon Bank of Pittsburgh and after 18 years retired as a Senior Vice President, Information Processing. He moved to Sun City Center in September, 1989. He was a graduate of Ohio State University and the University of Southern California. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Hazel Drake Williams; daughter Colonel (USAF, Retired) Karen Currie and her husband Wayne of Montgomery, Al; son Richard, his wife Sandi, and grandsons Conrad and Colin of Houston, TX; and son Stuart and his wife Cindy of Williamsburg, VA; brothers John of Whistler, Canada and Kenneth and family of St. Petersburg, FL. He was a member and Elder of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, the Military Officers Association of America, Triple Creek R/C Flying Club, the Sun City Campers, and was an advisor with the Service Corps of Retired Executives. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, FL 33573. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his honor to the Beth-El Farmworker Ministry, Inc. P.O.
