Obituary of Janice Joy Yates

Janice Yates passed away at her residence in Ruskin Florida on January 20, 2024

Jan was born at St. Ann’s in Columbus Ohio on October 8, 1950, to the late George and Jean Yates. A 1968 graduate of Big Walnut High School. She also attended Columbus State and Ohio Dominican colleges. Jan retired from Lucent “Western Electric “after 31 years of service, she then went on to Nationwide Children’s, primarily in her beloved NICU for 18 years.

Jan loved life and spent a large portion with her cycling club traveling all over the country by bicycle. She ran three marathons, the last at 61‘, she was an accomplished seamstress as well, she Loved traveling and cruises with friends. Her last years were spent at Riverside Golf and Marina in Florida where she developed lasting friendships and brought Joy to everyone with her outgoing personality and genuine love and concern for others.

Jan is survived by the Love of her life Al Egland, as well as by her forever friends, Mary Coons, Chuck Winchell, and Claudia Ramsey. She also leaves behind her niece Carrie Egland, and beloved pets, Tipper, Tilly and Lucky, and numerous family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Hayes Bayou at The Landings at Riverside club on February 3 at 12:30 pm, with a brief service followed by lunch and fellowship.

The family asks that no black apparel be worn by all those who wish to attend.
