Obituary of Edward Cummins Muller

Edward Cummins Muller (May 4, 1927 - August 17, 2011) of Apollo Beach, FL passed away after a long illness. He is survived by his daughter d'Arcy Muller and granddaughters Jacqueline Fay and Bridget Fay. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and devoted grandfather as well as a hard working executive and a private investor in technology start ups. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he enlisted in the army in 1943, achieved the rank of Lieutenant in the 11th Airborne's Flying Foxes division. Ed attended Pace University on the GI bill and received his PhD in Economics from Princeton. Ed was a Visiting Professor of Economics at The College of William and Mary. An accomplished equestrian, Ed rode horses, played polo at the Polo Grounds and competed in dressage. Ed began his career with St. Regis Paper Company as a salesman and rose to the position of CFO. A long-time member of the Power Squadron after buying his first boat in 1968, he was Past Commodore of two Squadrons and belonged to Squadrons in NY, CT, Tampa, and Apollo Beach. Ed married Carol Parker, the love of his life, in 1953. They met at a Church horseback riding event and matched wits until her death in 1999. A devout Catholic, Ed was an active member of St. Anne's Church, a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus, and a regular at Saturday night after-Mass dinner with the church ladies, who kept him on his toes. A Mass of The Resurrection will be held 11 am, Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 106 11th Avenue, NE. Ruskin FL.
