Obituary of Wade Owen Hankinson

Hankinson, Wade O. 94 of Sun City Center, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Cypress Creek ALF. Born in Aiken County, South Carolina, he was a graduate of Clemson University and received a Masters in Education from the University of Florida. Wade served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received the Bronze Star for his service in the East China Sea. He retired as a Lt. Commander in the USNR. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1949 and retired in 1972 as principal of Riviera Junior High School. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Parrish, Fl. Survivors include his wife of 69 years Mary Hankinson, Sun City Center, 3 sons Wade Owen (Linda) Hankinson, Jr. of Bradenton, Lloyd Edgar (Ann) Hankinson of Sarasota, and Barry Stephen (Jamie) Hankinson of Apollo Beach. Wade is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, 9608 US 301 N, Parrish, Fl.
