Obituary of Theodore S. Rodda

Theodore 'Ted' Rodda, 83, passed away July 15, 2011. Served in the Army between 1946 and 1949. Graduated with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Oregon State College in 1954. Retired in 1991 from Sundstrand Corporation after 35 years. This company moved him from Denverto Bremerton, to Rockford, to Denveragain and lastly to Grand Junction. There were three times when Sundstrand requested that he work in Singapore, therefore, we were able to enjoy times in places never anticipated. He was part of many church families: Became a part of God's family at The church at 550 in Montavilla, Portland, Oregon. Other long term church affiliations were in Denver Colorado, Bremerton Washington, Harlem Road Christian Church, Rockford Illinois, teacher/elder; Broomfield, Colorado, teacher/elder; Clifton Christian Church, teacher; and First Christian Church of Sun City Center. He hobbies included hiking the Colorado mountain trails, gardening (he was a Master Gardener), volunteering with an organization which provided transportation to the disabled, and fly fishing and teaching fly tying. Although he lived a long full life, his health began to fail in 1994 and was diagnosed with Neutral Pressure Hydrocephalus in 2007. He was at home and cared for by his wife until the last two months. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rita, and 3 children Bruce, Dale, Arleen Thomas, and 4 grandchildren. The family request that donations be made in his memory to First Christian Church of Sun City Center or LifePath Hospice.
