Obituary of Francis Xavier Comella

Francis X. (Fran) Comella, 90 of Sun City Center, Fl, died suddenly on October 15, 2010 at his home in Sun City Center. He was born in Sharpsburg, Pennsylvania on April 5, 1920. Prior to his retirement in 1982 he resided in the Pittsburgh, Pa, area spending many years in Crafton and Castle Shannon. Mr. Comella, was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Kronmiller Comella; Charlotte, his wife of 54 years; daughter Rosemarie and a sister, Mary E. (Betty) Koblak. Surviving are his children, Francis (Barbara) Comella, Jr. of Bloomington, Illinois; Nancy (Charles) Vandine of Wintersville, Ohio; and Carol (Gerald) Bass of Pittsburgh, Pa; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, John (Judy) Comella of Lakeland, fl; Joseph (Edith) Comella, Jr., Butler Pennsylvania; and Warren Comella of Fairmont, West Virginia; and sister-in-law Sister Noreen Sheehan and Isabel Forsythe, both of Pittsburgh; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Fran was a veteran of World War II where he served as a Navy Seabee in the Philippines and China. Following his discharge from the service he returned to Pittsburgh where he became an agent and District Manager for State Farm Insurance Companies retiring after 32 years. He was a longtime member of Prince of Peace R.C. Church, Sun City Center, and a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, and friends may call at the Sun City Center Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM Interment will be in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
