Obituary of Larry Ross Thomas

Thomas, Larry, 72, was called home by his heavenly Father January 24, 2009. He leaves behind many loving friends and family whose lives will forever be changed by him. Larry was born in Vernon, Illinois on November 24, 1936. He graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1955. He attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. He married Kathy Kraeger December 31, 1959. They raised two daughters in Pekin and retired to Florida in 1998. Larry has a passion for history. He was a member of the Sons of the Union Veterans and the 114th Volunteer Infantry, Company B, both civil war organizations. He was also a bagpiper and loved nothing more that being asked to play for special occasions. In recent years he had become involved with the Tampa Beddlington Terriers group. He leaves behind a wife of 49 years, Kathy, two daughters, Betsy (Lance) Urven of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and Vicki (Duane) Helmuth of Sun City Center, Florida. He also survived by three grandson, Ross, Rion and Ian Urven of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Isabell Thomas and his sister, Betty Stumpf.
