Obituary of Martha Doud Battles

Martha Doud Battles died unexpectedly June 4, 2010 at Tampa General Hospital, just one month short of her 95th birthday. She was born July 3, 1915 in Bristol, CT and lived most of her life in Tewksbury, MA with her late husband, Ralph S. Battles. She graduated from Syracuse University in 1937, received a M Ed from Salem State College, and was a second grade teacher and reading specialist. After retirement, she moved to Ft. Myers, FL and then to Sun City Center, FL 5 years ago. She is survived by a son, Philip M. (Michaele) Battles, III of McLean, VA, a daughter, Barbara (Jorge) Battles Rios of Alexandria, VA, a son, Ralph S. (Sue) Battles of Apollo Beach, FL, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Her family was by her side when she went to live with the Lord. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
