Obituary of Dawn W. Palmer

Dawn Wick Palmer of Sun City Center, beloved wife of Harry Palmer, passed away December 14, 2010. She was born in Pipestone, Minnesota to George and Ella Wick. When she was a baby, band leader Lawrence Welk held her in his arms at a hometown concert. In her teens she learned to hunt pheasant and fish for walleye in northern Minnesota. She was raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she was an accomplished seamstress and concert pianist. Upon graduating from Augustana College with a BA in music she went on to become a stewardess at United Airlines. Later in life she earned her Masters Degree in Library Science from Rutgers University and worked as a children's librarian for West Orange Public Library in West Orange, New Jersey. Later in her career she was a library consultant with Pro Libra Associates in Maplewood, New Jersey. Dawn was married to the love of her life, Harry Palmer, for 31 years. They enjoyed their home in Verona, New Jersey and especially the time they spent at their vacation home in Callicoon, New York. They shared the love of pets, art, music and travel. Dawn is survived by her loving husband, Harry Palmer of Sun City Center, her four children, Amy Coffman, Karin Nazaruk, Craig Coffman, Jim Coffman, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and her beloved dog Molly. Visitation hours will be held 2:00-4:00 PM, December 18 at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, Florida. There will be a service for friends and family at 2:30 PM, December 19th at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens in the mausoleum chapel, 2323 West Brandon Blvd., Brandon, Florida.
