Obituary of Herman E. Habegger

Herman "Ham" E. Habegger, 96, of Sun City Center, Fl. and Fayetteville, N.Y. joined the Lord November 28, 2011. Born October 3, 1915 in Berne, Indiana son of Levi & Caroline Liechty Habegger who came to America in 1890 from Switzerland. Herman was predeceased by his parents, a sister, two brothers, wife Imogene G. Riley whom he married in 1941 in Grand Rapids, Michigan & died in 2002 two daughters, Karen Lee & Barbara J. Bates. He leaves a son, Gary H. Habegger (Joan), Granddaughters Karen Pierce, Kelly Burlingame, Rene Durney-, Wendi Taormina (Norman), Melissa Bates of New York, Patricia M. Heinzman his closest friend and companion, Patricia's daughter Susan Monaco & son Jack S. Heinzman (Judi). 1938 he was associated with Michigan CO-OP, Grand Rapids, Mi. 1939-1941 Parts Mgr.Keller Tractor & Equipment Co. 1942 D-A Lubricant Co., Indianapolis, Ind. as Salesman in New York State. 1945-1977 Syracuse Supply Co. as National Accounts Mgr., (Top Salesman), Syracuse, N.Y., retired from Syracuse Supply. In 1946 he became a charter member of Fayetteville, N.Y. Lions Club,joined the Fayetteville Masonic Lodge #305, 32nd degree Mason & Shriner.1960 he was elected to the Board of Trustees, Village of Fayetteville, serving 10 years, on the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Village, was past Chairman of the Associates Advisory Committee New York State Chapter of Associated General Contractors, Inc.Albany, N.Y. 1946 he joined the United Methodist Church of Fayetteville He shared his retirement time in Sun City Center, Fl. and Fayetteville, N.Y. In Sun City Center (1980) he joined with Rev. Walter Creason and helped start United Methodist Church here,was a charter member and oldest active member, a very religous person who served his God well. He was an active N.Y. and FL. golfer who "shot" a Hole-In-One at age 92. Memorial service Sunday, December 11, 2011, at 2:00 pm United Methodist Church Sun City Center, Florida. Inurnment-Fayetteville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations appreciated for Life Path Hospice or United Methodist Church of Sun City Center, Fl.
