Obituary of Webb A. Cooper

Webb Alexander Cooper, 93, died April 19, 2009 in Sun City Center, Fla after a short illness. He was born on April 29, 1915 in Oswego, New York, where he spent his childhood. He graduated from Wesleyan University in 1937. While there, he met his wife Kay, and they married in 1942. They would have celebrated their 67th anniversary this June. Mr. Cooper served as lieutenant commander in the Navy during World War II. He and his wife moved to Plainfield, New Jersey, where they raised their three children and spent most of their life. He founded Belting Industries Company in Kenilworth, N.J. and served as its president until 1997. Mr. Cooper and his wife spent every summer in Fair Haven, NY, where they have many close friends. He loved sailing in his younger years and enjoyed golf and fishing up until his death. He was a member of the United Community Church and the Sandpiper golf Club in Sun City Center. Mr. Cooper was a wonderful husband and father and a friend to many. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kay, his daughter, Sally, his son, Scott and his wife, Pam, his daughter Marcia and her husband, Todd and by 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jack. Mr. Cooper also leaves behind his dear friends, Paul and Joanne Bancell of Sun City Center. A memorial service will be at the United Community Church in Sun City Center, Fla on Sunday May 3, 2009 at 2:00 P.M.. There will also be a memorial service this summer in Fair Haven, New York.
