Obituary of James W. Gribble

James Wallace Gribble, Jr, of Apollo Beach, FL, passed away on November 9, 2009 after a year-long courageous battle with brain cancer. Born in Germany on October 11, 1956, he was the son of Francisca M. Gribble and James W. Gribble Sr. and brother of Michael Gribble. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Nancy Gribble, and their four year old son, Alexander Gribble. He graduated from Jesuit High School, Tampa, FL in 1974 and from the University of FL in 1978 with a BA in Journalism. James was an avid sports fan with an unwavering commitment to the Gator Football Team. He had a great love of life and devotion to his Catholic faith. He loved California, especially the Corona Del Mar region. He was also a gifted writer and loved reading about history, politics and theology. He greatly enjoyed golf, boating and his many friends and family. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle and great friend to the many who knew and loved him. Above all, he was profoundly in love with his wife, Nancy and deeply proud of being a father to his son, Alexander. He will be missed immensely by all. Special thank you to the kindness and sensitivity shown to both James and his family and friends by The Moffitt Cancer Center and by the staff who cared for James at Tampa General Hospital. Visitation will be held at Sun City Funeral Home on Friday, November 13, 2009 from 5:30-8:30pm. Memorial Service will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church in Ruskin on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 10am.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Fidelity College fund established for James' son, Alexander.
