Obituary of Marian P. Armstrong

Marian Armstrong was born Marian Morris Powell on May 15, 1918 in Lower Merion Township, PA. She was raised in Bryn Mawr, PA and graduated from Radnor High School and the Spring Gardens Institute of Philadelphia. She died peacefully at home on May 14, 2009, one day short of her 91st birthday. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Bette McColly of Denver, CO, daughter, Joan Pruzick of Red Bank, NJ, grandsons Zachary McColly, Stephen and Andrew Pruzick and 2 great grandchildren Kyle and Emily Pruzick. Marian and her husband Bob moved to Sun City Center from Ridgewood, NJ in 1979. She quickly became an active and enthusiastic volunteer serving the community in many capacities: President of the Art Club, Social Director of The Retired Officers Association, Chairman of the New Years Eve Ball and the Military Ball for 5 years, the JPO Planning Board and Treasurer of the Historical Society. She was on the Advisory Board of Sun City Trust and the Planning Committee of the Atrium and Florida Room. Her most recent project was the new Fitness Center. Closest to her heart was the honor given her when the Community Association named the Armstrong Room to recognize the dedication she and Bob have given to the growth of Sun City Center.
