Obituary of August Balistreri

Balistreri, August J. (Augie) 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening Feb 18 in Sun City Center, FL. We wish to thank everyone at the Life Path hospice for allowing our husband and Dad to pass from this life with comfort, dignity, and peace. A Milwaukee, Wisconsin native, Augie is survived by his wife of 62 years Lucille A. (nee Kneisl), son Daniel (Shelley), daughter Carol Ann Champan (Michael), grand daughters Katie Clancy (Timothy) and Ashley Champan, 2 great grand daughters Eliza and Madeline Clancy, step great grand children Kaitlyn Leonard, Logan Marsh, and Alexis Clancy, brother Frank Balistreri, Sister in law Dorothy Balistreri and many other cherished relatives and treasured friends. Augie, a World War II veteran, worked for Durant Digital Instruments (Eaton) for 43 years, retiring in 1984. He spent many years as an Assistant and then Boy Scout Master at troop 87 in Pewaukee (awarded the Silver Beaver in 1972), held various positions at St Anthony on the Lake - Catholic Church (Pewaukee) for 32 years and Waukesha's Society of St Vincent DePaul. His happiness came from being of service to others. Upon retirement, Augie and Lucille moved to Florida where he spent his time on the golf course and with many new and long time, wonderful friends. There will be a celebration of Augie's life at the Sun City Center Funeral Home on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 11am. In lieu of flowers and in the spirit of Augie's life, memorials to Life Path hospice, 3723 Upper Creek Drive, Ruskin, FL 33573 would be greatly appreciated.
