Some of my earliest childhood memories were of taco dinners at the St. John home. Uncle Mels stories and the smell of his pipe will always have their place among my dearest memories. And though we have lost a dear loved one I rejoice in the knowledge that angels a Christ rejoice in the homecoming of another child! All our love is to you in your time of sorrow, and our prayers for comfort and peace to you in Jesus our Blessed Savior!

Liz & Family...
No words can say what we really are feeling inside. I hope you all know how much Mel, Liz & ALL of you mean to us. You are Much more than friends, you are an extension of our family. We know that you are going to miss the husband & father & grampy that we all knew & loved, but we all know that he suffered & endured long enough. He was getting tired, & now he can rest. The great memories of our scouting years will live on as long as we tell the stories & share the laughter & the tears. Mel was the reason we have all those wonderful memories & why we stayed together in scouting for as long as we did. (We have 2 Eagle Scouts to prove that!!!)We love you all and our prayers go out to you & you know we are just a phone call away.
All our Love, The Weimers

Mr. St John will always hold a special place in my heart. I have so many good memories of our scouting days and trips, from the days of summer camp, to the National Jamboree in Virginia, and all those camp outs in between. I am thankful for his leadership and dedication to Troop 661, for exposing me to Scouting, and for the values I learned. To the St. John family, you all are in my thoughts and prayers, and I am privileged to have known such a wonderful man as your husband and father.

Dear Liz and family. Our deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. Its hard to lose a husband as I well know. Keep him close to your heart and always remember all the wonderful memories you have. Starting with the first time you met him and then started dating. Then your marriage and all the traveling all over the USA. Also the 3 wonderful children your marriage produced. And the precious grandchildren and of course great grandbaby Ella. You will be in our prayers and may God comfort you at this time. Love Karen and Bob

Melvin is my favorite curmudgeon forever. How wonderful to see his elation at the 50th anniversary party! How fine to remember the fervor with which his return from military service was awaited by his bride-to-be all those years ago, X-ing off the days--that memory is fresh in my mind. God love you.

I remember watching Melvin soldering some wires one evening, the smoke rising as he diligently worked. I had never seen anything like this and it held my interest, so I stared quite intently. This made him chuckle a bit. He explained to me how he was fixing some electronic part so that the electricity would flow again. I went out and bought a soldering iron not long after that and spent many gleeful hours burning holes in wood and plastic. Occasionally I actually soldered something together. Thanks, Mr. St. John, I appreciated your guidance.

Dear Betsy, family and friends,
Please accept my sympathies for your loss. May our good Lord strengthen and comfort you at this time.
We believe that Mel has gone on to a greater reward than any man could have on this earth because his faith that his sin debt was paid for by Jesus, the son of God, on the cross. Absent from the body is present with the Lord. Precious in the sight of God is the death of His saints.
I will miss Mel here on earth but look forward to being with him and the other loved ones who have gone on before to be with Jesus Christ.
Mel, has been a faithfull leader in his family and the community of folks he served. He stands stalwart as a good example to all of us.
My life has been richer knowing Mel and will miss this good man who was a friend. till I see Jesus.
