In Kenesaw, NE, he lived with foster parents Otto and Mary Redman, attended the Lutheran grade school, was confirmed in 1931, and graduated from Kenesaw High School in 1935. As an engineer, member of ROTC, and cheerleader at the University of Nebraska, Kam became a true "Cornhusker". It was at the U of N that he met the love of his life, Louise, and they married on June 4, 1942. From 1943-1946, Kam served his country during World War II in the Army, rising to the rank of Captain. He was one of the original "hand-to-hand combat" instructors, and served in the South Pacific (Saipan). Kam was employed by several heating and air-conditioning companies in Nebraska and Utah. In 1955, he entered the real estate business, and by 1961 owned his own company, A-1 Realty. He proudly opened RE/MAX A-1,Inc., where for nine years he was the principal broker until his retirement in 1988. He held many of the offices in the Salt Lake Board of Realtors, was Education Chairman of the Utah Association of Realtors, was instrumental in starting the Graduate Realtors Institute, and was honored as "1981 Realtor of the Year". Charitable organizations experienced his generosity, as he taught hunter safety courses, coached baseball, and held many offices in his church and the Optimist Club of Salt Lake City and Utah. He was a private pilot and loved the outdoors, especially golfing, camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, and traveling. In 1988, Kam and Louise moved to Sun City Center, FL, where he enjoyed people, golfing, and time with his wife. Always "on the go" and ready to "tell you a story", he lived life with true optimism, a smile, and a twinkle in his eye. In recent years, he cared for and served Louise, who has Alzheimers.
