Obituary of Margaret Jeanne Horton

Margaret Jeanne Benson "Peg" Horton, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2011. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama October 14, 1925. Growing up, she also lived in Toronto, Chicago, Detroit and Shaker Heights. She graduated from Shaker Heights High School in Cleveland, Ohio, and from Ohio State University where she was president of her sorority Delta Delta Delta. Upon her marriage to Ralph Emerson Horton, Jr. in 1948, she resided in Bedford, Ohio until moving to Florida in 1957. She was a dedicated wife, mother, homemaker, avid golfer, bridge player and volunteer, living in Cape Haze, Florida and then moving to Kings Point in Sun City Center, Florida in the late 1990's. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Emerson Horton, Jr. and her son, Clay Carver Horton, her brother, Karl Benson and her sister Anness Kehoe. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Horton Gladfelter and son-in-law Van J. Gladfelter of Tampa, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1239 Del Webb Boulevard West, Sun City Center, Fla. Private burial was in Gulf Pines Memorial Park, Englewood, Fla. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church or the Sun City Center Emergency Squad. The family would like to express a special thanks to the dedicated and wonderful staff at the Inn at the Courtyards at Aston Gardens and to her physician, Dr. Sue-Wah-Sing.
