Obituary of Hazel C. Hart

HART, Hazel Catherine, 94, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away peacefully September 1, 2010. She was born in Chicago, Ill., August 23, 1916, to Norma and Raymond Heintz. She is survived by her loving daughter, Gail Woldridge (Laird) of Sun City Center; sister, Joyce Usher, nephew, Brian Usher (Teri), and great-nephew, Adam Usher, all of Largo, Fla.; great-niece, Jennifer Carr (Steven) of West Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren, Christopher Woldridge (Tonya), U.S. Air Force with NATO in England, Julie Dick (Sean) of Canton, Ohio, Robert Woldridge of Liverpool, N.Y., and Michael Woldridge (Rosanna) of Tampa; and five great-grandchildren. Hazel' s parents owned a small summer resort in Waterford, Wis., on the Fox River. Her father was also with the Milwaukee Railroad; Hazel was raised there, along with her sister. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin with an master' s degree in library science. She married Lester Hart at the beginning of World War II. They had one daughter, Gail. After the war, the family moved back to Chicago, and later to the suburb of Itasca, Ill. Hazel was responsible for starting the public libraries in Itasca and Wooddale. Hazel then pursued an master' s degree in education. She taught in the nearby town of Bensenville, Ill., until retirement. She moved to Florida in 2002, along with her daughter and son-in-law. She enjoyed activities in Sun City Center, such as the Red Hat Society, Purple Butterflies Chapter, Senior Friends H2U of South Bay Hospital, and the United Methodist Church of Sun City Center. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, at the United Methodist Church of Sun City Center, 1210 Del Webb Blvd. West, Sun City Center, FL 33573, preceded by a viewing and greetings at 10 a.m. She will be interred at Acacia Cemetery in Chicago, joining her parents and brother-in-law. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lifepath Hospice in Sun City Center/Ruskin or to the United Methodist Church of Sun City Center
