Obituary of George C. Ryan

Ryan, George Charles, of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away on June 2, 2011. He was 91. George was born on October 12, 1919 in Philadelphia, PA to Dan and Susan Ryan. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lillian and his only sister Eva. He is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-nine years, Jean Keever Ryan, 8 Children, 5 Step-Children, 26 Grandchildren, 28 Great-Grandchildren and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren.George was very proud of his service to our country during WWII. He was a member of the 58th Armored Field Artillery Battalion which was attached to many different Army Units during his four years of service. He participated in the North African Campaign, the Sicilian Campaign, the Liberation of France and fought in Germany. He survived the second assault wave on Omaha Beach during Operation Overlord on June 6, 1944. There will be a memorial service for George. 10 AM, Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, FL following the service the ashes will be interment at Florida National Cemetery.
