Obituary of Thelma G. Eggleton

Thelma (Carrick) Apps, Weston, Eggleton, 85, of Sun City Center Florida. passed away at her home in Sun City Center, FL on Monday July 13, 2009 after a long Illness. Her parents were Lynn and Nellie Carrick of Houghton/ Higgins Lake, Michigan. She graduated from Roscommon High School in 1943 and was a Gold Star widow married to PFC Harold Apps in May of 1944, who was killed in action in November of 1944. She worked at Carrick General Store at Higgins Lake Michigan and Houghton Lake Michigan. In December, 1946 she married Russell Weston and they established and managed a deluxe drycleaners in Houghton Lake, Michigan. She was widowed in 1974, and remarried Charles (Chuck) Eggleton in August of 1975. She had five step children: Ray Eggleton of Houghton Lake, Michigan; Holly J. Bowes of Clinton Township, Michigan; Jennifer J. Moran of Webster, Indiana; Patrick J. Eggleton, PhD of New Tribes Mission, Paupa New Guinea; Amy J. Beightel of Riverview, Fl. fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a brother, Keith Carrick of Higgins Lake and Neebish Island, Michigan, two sisters, Doris Peters(formerly) Houghton Lake, Michigan and then Holland, Michigan and Shirley VonSee of Charlotte, Michigan and Ruskin, FL She was a long-time member of Faith Worx (First Baptist) Church in Apollo Beach, FL. Thelma was a musician and played the accordion, the piano, and the organ and she was an original member of the Dulcimer Club of Sun City Center. A memorial service will be held at the Faithworx Church in Apollo Beach Florida at 7 P.M. Thursday July 16, 2009 conducted by Pastor Frank Twombly. A grave side service will be held 3 PM Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Crestview Cemetery in Markey Township, Michigan with Pastor Doug Stockwell of First Baptist Church in Prudenville, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Tribes Mission, c\o Patrick Eggleton,1000 East First Street, Sanford, Fla 32771-1487.
