Obituary of Larry Marvin McDowell

McDowell, Larry Marvin, 73, of Sun City Center, and formerly of Cazenovia, NY, entered into eternal rest December 27, 2011. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from United Parcel Service after 31 years of service in Syracuse, NY. He also enjoyed 10 years of working part-time for Wegman's Food Market and Big Oak Golf Course in Geneva, NY, before retiring full time with his wife to Florida in July of 2010. He enjoyed round and square dancing, golfing, Syracuse University basketball and NASCAR racing. He will be remembered most for his warm smile and vibrant blue eyes. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and genuinely enjoyed people. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Violet McDowell, father, Leon McDowell, and sister, Marie Benoit. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Faye; four children, Kenneth (Annette) McDowell, Macedon, NY; Michele (Kevin) Frary, Pensacola, FL; Duane McDowell, Denver, CO; and Amy (David) Maines, Virginia Beach, VA; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Ryan, Noah, Emily, Katie, Danielle, Devyn, Madison and Alex; a brother, Raymond (Anne) McDowell along with several nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Sun City Center, FL later this week and a full service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make memorial contributions may be made in Larry's name to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1239 Del Webb Boulevard West, Sun City Center, Fla 33573 or the Sun City Center Hospice House, 3725 Upper Creek Drive, Ruskin, Fla 33573.
