Obituary of GEORGE M BODMER

George Bodmer 85 of Sun City Center Passed away January 30th, 2024, at Life Path Care Hospice House. He was born In Kenmare North Dakota on December 14, 1938, and graduated from North Dakota University.  Major George Bodmer served 10 years in the army as an officer and spent 2 years in Viet Nam.  He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Olive Bodmer and his brother Tom Bodmer George is survived by his wife Sally Bodmer, daughter Susan Bodmer Graham, his son’s Jeffrey Bodmer (wife Valerie) , and David Bodmer (wife Tammy).  And his stepson Dickie Cornett Jr (wife Sheree) and his stepdaughter Cathie Jo Cornett.  He also had 9 grand and step grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  George is also survived by his 3 brothers John (wife Violet) Henry (wife Joan) and Paul (wife Judy). Plus, his brother in law Ernesto Buccini (wife Linda) and many nieces and nephews. 

George enjoyed life to the fullest.  He enjoyed fishing, photography, hiking, a host of sports related activities plus entertaining because he loved to cook.  He founded Bayside Realty Group, Inc in 1997 and loved being the CEO and real estate broker of his own company. Prior careers included tying flies for fly fishing, a fishing guide, and his own tackle shop.  He gave back to his community via volunteering for security patrol, was a member of MOAA, was Vice President of Programs for the Sun City Men’s Club and belonged to the DAV.  Plus, for years he delivered meals on wheels.  George was elected President of the Greater Tampa Association of Realtors in 2005, He served for several years as a Director for the National Association of Realtors, and a director for the Florida Association of Realtors.  In 2016 he was named Realtor of the Year for Greater Tampa Realtors. 

George was a man of many accomplishments and loved life.  He will be missed by many.

George’s Memorial service is Friday February 9th.  Service at 1:00 p.m. and a gathering at 2:00 p.m.
