Obituary of Henry Dauphin Schlegel-Smith

Henry Dauphin Schlegel-Smith "Hanka" 83 of Sun City Center, FL, passed away on November 10th, 2023 at Palm Gardens Rehab center, after a brief battle with lung cancer. 

Born and raised in Quincy, Ma, he also lived in Rockland, Ma and Center Barnstead, NH before retiring to Sun City Center, FL.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman & Eva Mae Schlegel, his brother Norman Schlegel, his sister Barbara Keyes, his wife Carole, and by his step-son James Smith

Henry is survived by his daughter Debbie Warn and her husband Bob, sons Alan Smith and his wife Tara Salonen, Michael Smith and his wife Becky, and Gary Smith, 11 grandchildren:  Wayne, Christopher, Stephanie, Cassidy, Nicholas, Julia, Eathin, Matthew, Madison, Courtney, and Geneveive.  5 Great-grandchildren, Isabell, Brenna, Kendall, Oliver and Leiton. He also leaves behind good friends, Martha, Deborah, Ricky and Carole.

When he was younger, he worked as a carpenter and was a veteran of the Air Force.  He was also very involved with the American Legion and the Moose Club.

Henry loved being outside whether it be in the garden, hunting, fishing, riding snowmobiles or his favorite, being on his motorcycle. He also enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, shooting pool, playing poker, watching football, and woodworking. But most of all he loved to tell stories.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Waterside Room, in The North Clubhouse at Kings Point, Sun City Center FL on Friday, January 12th at 4-6pm.  Burial will be in the spring in Center Barnstead, NH.
