Obituary of George Anthony Karas Jr.

George Anthony Karas Jr., “Bullhead”, 81 of Bradenton, Florida passed away November 7,2023 at the Casa Mora Rehabilitation Facility.

Born on August 15, 1942, raised in Waterbury Connecticut, graduated from Croft High School and went on to obtain an associate degree. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Anthony Karas Sr and Bertha Yerzak Karas and his son Clifford Joseph Dufour, Jr.

George is survived by his wife, Gilberte Clavette Karas “Freshy” and two brothers, Robert Karas of Waterbury, Connecticut and John Karas of Escondido, California. He leaves behind two sons, Philip Dufour and wife Joann of Waterbury, Connecticut and son Eddie Dufour and wife Susan of Bradenton, Florida and a daughter-in-law Linda Coleman Cyphers of Ocala, Florida.

He also leaves behind 9 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild and several nieces and nephews. George proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.  He was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans also a member of the Sun City Leathernecks. George enjoyed being an usher at his parish and spending time with his family sharing stories with a smile that would light up a room.

He also enjoyed watching his wrestling and football. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center, Florida on November 22. Interment Service will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery at 12:30 PM with Military Honors.
