Obituary of Sammie Simmons Dansby

Sammie Simmons Dansby of Wimauma, FL passed away on July 6, 2023.

Born on September 25, 1923, in Cleveland, TN to the late Rev. E.L. and Mayme Simmons. She was strong in her faith and loved her family deeply.

Sammie was an active member of the Church of God and loved to sing in the choir and serve. She always dressed to the “nines” and loved her accessories; you would never catch her out of the house without earrings!  

Sammie LOVED to travel, visiting many countries around the world and she loved to go bird watching with friends and family. Sammie was also an author as well as an amazing artist.

She is survived by her sister, Amalfi Cato, as well as many Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren. What a legacy she has left behind! Preceded in death by her Husband, Arthur Dansby, her son, Thomas B. (Benny) Pitman III, two brothers and four sisters.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on her 100th Birthday, September 25, 2023, at the Wimauma Church of God 5504 State Road 674 Wimauma, FL 33598.
