Obituary of Eugene D Garand

Eugene Donald Garand, 86, passed away on July 12, 2023, after a brief illness.  He was born on December 2, 1936, in Manchester, New Hampshire to Armand and Lauretta Garand. Gene served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years and continued to serve his community for another 20 years in the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office. He was an avid fisherman and boat captain, a lifelong RC aircraft hobbyist and member of the Triple Creek Radio Control Aircraft Club for the last 35 years.

Gene is survived by his wife Brenda Bertoni; son Donald (Mary) Garand, daughter Diane (Steve) DeHart, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He also leaves extended family members including Brenda’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Gene was predeceased by his parents, his son Kenneth Peter Garand and his brother Normand Charles Garand.

A celebration of life will be held at Sun City Center Funeral Home at 11 am on Monday, July 31, 2023. Internment will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a future date.   He Lived A Good Life!
