Obituary of Hubert C. Chaffin

Hubert C. Chaffin, 88, of Engadine, MI passed away in Sun City Center, FL on May 10, 2023.

Hubert (Hugh) was born in Perrinton, MI and graduated from Fulton Center High School. He also graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was employed by the Michigan Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1993. His last position was as District Engineer for the Newberry District. The Flowing Well Rest Area on M-28 is named in his honor.

Hugh is survived by his wife Velma of 65 years, his children Robin (Melanie) Chaffin of Engadine and Nancy (James) Helgren of Channing, 3 grandsons Clay Roberts, Kyle (Krista) Roberts and Dolan Chaffin, 2 granddaughters Casey (Hunter) Evitts and Shauna Chaffin, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
