Sandra Morris

Obituary of Sandra L. Morris

We are heartbroken to announce the death of our mother, sister, aunty, cousin, friend, Sandra.  Sandra passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 25th at the age of 57 in Riverview, Florida, with her children by her side.  She was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a type of brain cancer that she had been battling since February of last year.  Sandra enjoyed cooking, baking, entertaining, and was full of life.  She knew how to crack a joke and loved the arts.  She was a family woman who loved her kids dearly and was also an adopted mother to many.  Sandra knew how to brighten the room with her presence.

Born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, Sandra, better known as “Charm”,  was the first born of three to her father Walter Roy Morris (deceased) and the last of five children to her mother Loretta Davis (deceased).   Sandra is preceded in death by her siblings Violet and Orett and leaves behind her two older sisters Verona and Selena, as well as her younger siblings Roy and Maureen.  Sandra was a devoted worker and enjoyed her job tremendously.  Graduate of St. Jago High School in Jamaica, then eventually coming to America, Sandra started her career at Albert Einstein Hospital where she discovered that she had a passion for helping others.  She then went on to pursue her Associates Degree at Long Island University, and later became a Certified Surgical Technician at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York where she worked for more than twenty five years.

Sandra leaves a legacy of three children: Andrew, Aaron and Melissa, as well as three grandchildren: Jorden, Jayden and Kai.  She was a proud aunt of eight: Lloyd, Stephen, Patrice, Jason, Donna-Marie, Roy Jr., Taylor and Ashley, and leaves behind many beloved cousins, aunts and uncles as well.  Sandra loved her family dearly and made it a point to travel with her kids and experience life together.  Sandra would often travel to Florida to visit her sisters and her nieces and nephews.   She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, her skills in the kitchen, her generous heart and how hard she worked.  Her beautiful smile, quick wit, and compassion for others will be remembered as a place of comfort to so many.

A celebration of Sandra’s life will be held at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, Florida, on Friday, Aug 12th.  There will be a viewing from 10am-1pm followed by her homegoing service at 1 p.m.  Online condolences may be expressed through www.suncitycenterfuneralhome.com .  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mayo Clinic  https://philanthropy.mayoclinic.org/donateMC
