William Brown

Obituary of William P Brown

William was born in Pennsylvania and made his home there until 2013 when he and his wife Margaret moved to Florida. William was known as Bill, Peter/Pete or Pop depending on the group of people he was with.

Son of William and Suzanne Brown, he grew up in Bryn Athyn, PA with his sister Beverly. Taking on a larger role of family responsibility when his father passed away when he was only six years old helped develop his servants’ heart. He was a graduate of Lower Moreland High School in Huntingdon Valley, PA class of 1959 and Williamson School of Mechanical Trades where he received a Carpentry degree in 1962. In high school he received recognition as the class giggler by his peers as his love of life and laughter was always at his core.

A truly blessed man, he enjoyed the richness of married life with his spouse Katharine with whom he had three children. Following her death in 2005, he had the joy of re-meeting a high school classmate Margaret (Mona) who he married in 2009.

The servants’ heart has been evident in all aspects of his life. A lifetime Christian, as a young man he raised his children with faith as the foundation. He was active in the church teaching Sunday School Class and serving as a Deacon and Elder. He was active in the lives of his many friends and their families from school and the community. He was received into the Catholic faith in 2009.

His working life called him to custom carpentry and house building and he completed several projects for family, friends and the community. He transitioned in his work life to large commercial projects as a Construction Superintendent on projects in eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware.

In the recent years of his retirement, he has loved making his home in Sun City and has enjoyed the friendships he has formed with the shuffleboard group, Sit and Get Fit Group, friends at the Pool as well as his neighbors, some of whom he has known since his high school days in Pennsylvania.

He entered peaceful rest with his wife, daughter, sister and brother-in-law at his side.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, William (Carol), Amie Torrecuso (Frank) and Andrew (Summer), his grandchildren Jonathan (Kristy), Peter (Brittany), Amber, Trilby and Marigold, and his great grandson William (Liam). His Sister Beverly Goshow (David) and his nephews Clarke (Mary), Brian (Beth) and Christopher (Kristie) and their children.

He is also survived by lifelong friends and their families whom he has treasured. It made his heart joyful when they called upon “Pop” for good council.

Well done good and faithful servant. Well done.
