Obituary of Virginia Grubar

Virginia Davis Grubar, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 20, 2022.

 

Virginia was born June 11, 1925, in Roanoke, VA to the late Joseph and Othiff Davis. She was the sole daughter with three brothers, Joseph, Durwood, and Johnny who all preceded her in death.

 

Virginia Grew up in Roanoke, VA and moved to Washington DC after graduating from Jefferson High School. She loved her secretarial job at both the Department of the Navy as well as the National Institutes of Health. Virginia married John Grubar in February 1965 after meeting him at Officers’ Club in Washington, DC. They lived in Rockville, MD, raised two beautiful daughters, and were faithful members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. In January 2019, John and Virginia moved to Sun City Center, FL to be closer to their daughter. John and Virginia were blessed with 57 wonderful years of marriage.

 

Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband, John Grubar of Sun City Center, FL; daughters: Jackie Baker and husband Bob, of St. Petersburg FL and Gina Stalder and husband Jim, of Roanoke, TX;  grandchildren: Matthew, Zachary, Melissa, Brian, Bradley, Ryan and Emily; nephews: JJ, Tommy, Robin and David; and niece, Carla.

 

An intimate family service was held on March 23, 2022, and she was laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and deep gratitude for all the expressions of sympathy and acts of kindness shown to them.
