Obituary of Gerri Elliott
Gerri Boyd Elliott, age 83, of Sun City Center, FL, passed away on Saturday, September 25th, 2021, at South Bay Hospital. She was born April 22nd, 1938, in Statesboro, GA to Harry and Louise Boyd who have preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by 3 siblings: Brenda Boyd Reece (Sister), Marilyn Boyd Jackson (Sister) and Billy Boyd (Brother). She leaves behind one brother, Kenny Boyd (Atlanta, GA).
Growing up in nearby Swainsboro, GA, Gerri later married and is survived by her love, Robert “Bob” Elliott of 56 years. She leaves behind 3 children: Todd Joel Elliott, 58 (St. Petersburg, FL), David Richard Elliott, 48 (Atlanta, GA) and Julie Elliott Fleming (Husband-Dustan), 46 (King George, VA). She was preceded in death by 1 stepson, Robert Krueger. She also leaves behind 5 Grandchildren: Brittany Elliott (Todd), Blake Elliott (David), Nicole Krueger (Robert), Noah Faulk (Julie and Dustan) and Ava Fleming (Julie and Dustan).
With a zest for life, Gerri was a proud Army wife for 20+ years while working a successful career for Eastern Airlines and as a travel agent. She was a dedicated member of the Smyrna Oakdale Moose Lodge as well as the Marietta Moose Lodge where you could typically find Gerri dancing with friends, singing karaoke, playing bingo, or shooting pool. For more enjoyment, she enjoyed traveling or cruising, bowling in her bowling league, watching TV or reading a good book. After retiring to Panama City, FL in 2002 with her groom, Bob, Gerri enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, taking in a swim around the pool, a competitive game of Chicken Foot, watching her game shows and she still loved to read a good book.
Gerri’s spunky, spit-fire attitude will be missed so we ask that you join us in celebrating her life Monday evening, October 4th, 2021, between 5-6pm at Sun City Center Funeral Home for a visitation with family and then a service starting at 6pm.
