Obituary of Francis Boucher

Francis J. Boucher, known to his friends and family as Frank, died peacefully May 3, 2021 at his home in Sun City Center, FL.


Born January 10, 1929 in Woonsocket, RI, he was educated at Mount St. Charles in Woonsocket, and enlisted in the Army at age 17. He served as an MP in occupied Japan and later joined the Marine Reserves. Following his military service, Frank went to work for his Uncle Tony Desaulniers in his Woolen Mill in Talladega, AL where he met his bride, Elaine Mitchell. After their December 7, 1950 wedding, Frank and Elaine moved to Woonsocket where, using the GI Bill, he attended Bryant College in
Providence. He earned a BS in Industrial Engineering. Following the lead of his brother Gene, he moved to the D.C. metro area where he began working for the Census Bureau. Frank retired from Census in 1984. He and Elaine went on to open and run International Wine and Deli in St. Mary’s County, MD. Additionally, he proudly served for many years as Chairman of the Board and as a board member of the
Census Bureau Federal Credit Union. Frank was an avid member of the Andrews Air Base Rod and Gun Club. He especially enjoyed bird hunting on his property in Chesapeake Beach, MD and in Talladega, joined by his Father-in-Law, Troy
Mitchell and brother-in-law, Asa O’Neal Cheatwood. He was active in Rotary, United Way and the V.F.W. in Calvert County, MD.


Frank is survived by his wife of 70 years, Elaine, daughters Michele (William H. Johnson) and Monique. Grandchildren Michael (Andy) Barrett, wife Chelsea; Chantel Morris, husband Corey; and Shelby Johnson. Great grandchildren Jasey and Madison Morris, and Forrest and Hunter Barrett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Boucher Jr., and his nephew, Eugene Boucher, III.


A service will be held at VA Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on May 14, 2021
