Obituary of Gloria Osby
Gloria, age 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at Doctor’s Hospital in Sarasota, Florida. Gloria was a resident of Sun City Center, Florida at the time of passing. She was born November 4, 1941, in Jackson, MS, to Edward and Kathleen Amos Ward. She was a 1960 graduate of Hirsch Metropolitan High School in Chicago, Illinois. Gloria relocated to Pala Alto, California and married the love of her life, Charles J. Osby. She worked as a machinist with Hewlitt Packard Computers, displaying a wonderful knack for solving problems. Gloria and Charles loved, supported, and navigated through life together for 51 years.
Gloria was a “firecracker” and “hell-raiser” and could keep you laughing. She truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, traveling and cooking exotic dishes. In fact, people would travel cross country, just to get one of Gloria’s “world famous” German Chocolate cakes.
Gloria had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way, she loved working with seniors in the church, cared for drug addicted babies as young as 3 days old and providing a loving and safe home to foster children for over 7 years until her health began to fail.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Gloria touched are invited to the Sun City Funeral Home 1851 Rickenbacker Dr, Sun City Center, Florida on Monday, September 23, 2019 from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat.To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Gloria Osby, please visit Tribute Store
