Obituary of Marilyn Jane Carr

Marilyn Carr (Lynn), wife of Don Carr, of Bradenton, Florida went home to her Lord on November 14, 2018. Lynn was born March 27, 1937, in Quaker City, Ohio to Russell and Helen Floyd. Previously Lynn and Don lived in Sun City Center, Florida, Indian Lake, Ohio, East Liverpool, Ohio and Milford Center, Ohio

Lynn graduated from Quaker City High School and The Ohio State University with a degree in Home Economics. She was a member of Block-O. She and Don met on a blind date while at Ohio State. They were married on July 12, 1958, and had more than 60 blessed years together.

She taught Home Economics before raising her two children. She was very active in 4-H and won honors in sewing at the Ohio State Fair. She enjoyed teaching, but her true love was architectural design. She assisted in the designs of three different homes that she and her family lived in. Lynn was a wonderful hostess and loved taking care of her family. She was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church and a life member of United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Don, and two sons: David Wesley (Jill) of Bowie, MD and Douglas Alan (Karen) of  Newport News, VA, and her brother, Harry M. Floyd (Shelby) of Quaker City, OH. She is also survived by four grandchildren, who brought such joy to her life: Lindsey Erickson, Singapore; Grant Carr, Stevensville, MD; Sarah Carr, Bowie, MD and Liam Carr, Newport News, VA. Two of her greatest blessings were her great-grandchildren: Magnus and Cora Erickson.

There will be a Memorial Service with Senior Pastor Charlie Rentz officiating at the United Methodist Church in Sun City Center at 11am on November 30, 2018. Contributions in Lynn’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
