Obituary of Eleonor Thayer

Thayer, Eleonor, 85, of Sun City Center, Fla passed away February 24, 2008. Eleonor earned her doctorate degree in Slavic Studies and taught foreign languages at numerous schools including the Chicago School System, Old Dominion University, St. David's School in New York City, St Leo College as well as the United Community Church College. She was fluent in German, Russian, French, Slovak and Spanish. Locally, she was enrolled in the Advance Italian Language Course. She was a member of the Art Club, Bridge Club, the Carmelites and Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Long. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, James, three children, John Adam Thayer, M.D. and his wife, Nathalie Thayer, M.D., Ann Marie Burris and her husband, John, and James Michael Thayer and his wife, Anna, nine grandchildren, Meg, Jason and Luke Burris, James, Julia, Wyatt, Grace and Virginia Thayer, Olivia Bonneville, and a sister, Amalia Olga Podkrivacky. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, Fla., Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 702 Valley Forge Boulevard, Sun City Center, Fla. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
