Obituary of Ted Lanen

Lanen, Teuvo "Ted" 81, of Sun City Center, Fla passed away March 21, 2008. He was born in Gardner, MA to Onni and Ida Liimatainen. He was educated in the Gardner School System and earned a Bachelor of Science of Electrical Engineering from Tufts College. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he received a commission as a naval officer. He served as product development engineer and research engineer at Carrier Corporation in Syracuse, NY. He later served as Sales Engineer and from 1966 as President of Leo C. Pelkus, Inc, of Wellesley Hills, MA, a many time winner in national performance before retiring in 1986. Ted was active in many professional technical societies, including The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers, and was a Registered Professional Engineer. He served as Director for the (NE) Electric Institute for twenty-four years, and as President of the Electrical Manufacturer's Representatives Club of New England. He was a member of the American Teilhard Association, and was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Church in New Hampshire, where he served on the Advisory committee. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and an altar server at Prince of Peace Catholic Church and a member of the Sun City Center Wood Carvers, where his carvings won several awards. He enjoyed reading, wood carving, fishing and skiing. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lucille, three sons, Thomas and his wife, Bonnie, Mark and his wife, Anneé Smith and Paul Lanen, 8 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
