Obituary of James Looper

Looper, James "Don" 85, of Sun City Center. Passed away peacefully in Kindred Hospital on June 20, 2008. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Pat, his beloved children and step children James Jr., Callie, Jennifer, Sarah, Jeanne, Duncan and Bruce, 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Martha and his parents Clyde L. and Mabel Looper. Born in Hennessey, Okla., Don was raised in a house by the Chisholm Trail. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Journalism and was an editor and writer for a number of newspapers. Don moved to Washington, D.C. to work with the Department of Agriculture where he was a ghostwriter for 8 Secretaries of Agriculture, members of Congress and several Presidents. During his career, he traveled to about 70 Different countries. Don retired to Big Pine Key, Fla., in 1988 and moved to Sun City Center, Fla., in 1996. During his lifetime, he was a published writer, editor, ghostwriter, poet, artist, sculptor, and actor. He was truly a modern Renaissance man. A memorial service and reception will be held Saturday, June 28 at 2 PM at the United Community Church, 1501 La Jolla Avenue, Sun City Center.
