Yvonne Rocheleau

Obituary of Yvonne Mary Rocheleau

Sun City Center, Fl - Yvonne completed her earthly journey on Tuesday, June 1st, 2023. She was just weeks away from her 95th Birthday in July.

Born in Northfield, VT on July 20th, 1928, she was the daughter of Arthur and Rose (Courtemanche) Hebert.

We always said, “Go for a 100 Mom”, but somehow, we knew that she only wanted to live, if her life was truly active. Yvonne, became a widow at the age of 71, her loving husband, Maurice, of nearly 50 years who passed suddenly, just a week before their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Yvonne, for the next 24 years would live a very independent life, traveling to VT for summers on Lake Champlain and winters in Sun City Center, FL. Yvonne lived in her own home up until her passing. For many years, she and Grace Houston were golfing buddies and Grace would plan outings that kept them busy.

She was extremely independent, driving both her car and golf cart. The golf cart was important for attending her weekly Tai Chi class since parking was limited and she could always find a place to park the cart. She met up with her friend, Edie Hazelton and her Bingo friends multiple times a week, and attended Sunday Mass at Prince of Peace. Even at close to 95 years young, she was very active and drove herself to Church, the store, and the occasional shopping trip. Yvonne took pride in managing her home and even worked on some of her landscaping, keeping her bougainvillea bush trimmed when needed.

Yvonne was blessed to have had 32 years of retirement, all in very good health. Her longevity can be attributed to the way she lived. Cooking from scratch was one of her favorite pass times. She would cook as though she had family coming, a pot roast in the crockpot and an apple pie on the counter. On Sunday there would be a Martini before dinner to enjoy. Reading was a big part of her life; she always had a novel going and in recent years joined the digital revolution and did her reading on her Kindle Reader. Up until her late 80’s, she was part of a weekly bowling team which often took 1st or 2nd place for the season.

Her Catholic faith was always evident. She joined the rosary ministry at her church and for years she made hundreds of wired rosaries, one bead at a time; a very time-consuming and precise undertaking.

The majority of Yvonne’s working career was in Banking, retiring in 1990 as an Assistant Trust Officer from the TD Bank. She spent her working years living in Northwestern VT where her husband and later, her son, worked together running the family auto business.

Yvonne was predeceased by her husband Maurice B Rocheleau, her parents, her three Brothers Leo, Marcel and Joseph Hebert and her sister Irene Martin,

Survived by her son Steve M. Rocheleau and his wife Paulette of Lakewood Ranch, FL and their Daughter Erica Rocheleau of Barre. VT, her Brother-in-Law Kendall Martin, Sister-in-Law Lucille Hebert and several nieces and nephews.
