Obituary of Eugene Torok

Eugene "Gene" Torok, 77, of Sun City Center, FL, (originally of Johnstown, Pennsylvania) passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022, with his loving wife of 52 years, Sandy, and sister Mary Jane at his side.

Gene was born in March 1945 to Joseph and Clara (Mizak) Torok in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Johnstown High School in 1963. On New Year's Eve (after midnight) 1964 after a roller-skating party at Skateland Roller Rink, he met Sandra "Sandy" Williams, the love of his life. Gene and Sandy were married in 1970 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He was the BEST dad to his daughter Brandy and son-in-law Rich Muth, who live near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Their three children, Andy, Kenny and Katie, lovingly called him "Pi.”

Gene was a proud US Navy Veteran serving his country in the Vietnam War. Gene worked at Bethlehem Steel (Johnstown), Struthers Industries (Warren, PA), Mosaic Company in Lakeland, Florida before retiring with Sandy to Sun City Center, FL. He was an avid golfer, a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and made beautiful stained-glass lamps, which his family treasures.

Gene is survived by his wife Sandy, daughter Brandy Muth and her husband Rich and by his grandchildren Andy, Kenny, and Katie Muth. He is also survived by his sister Mary Jane Debar and her husband Maurice (New York), his brother-in-law Jack Williams and his wife Donna (Johnstown), and several nieces and nephews.

Gene's family is proud to honor his wishes and thanks the staff of Tidewell Hospice - especially RN Dana, for their loving and compassionate care during this difficult time.

Services will be private for the family at a later time. Burial will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Cecil, PA with full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made in Gene's honor to the Sun City Center Florida Disabled American Veteran's Chapter 110: suncitycenter.org/activites/veterans/dav.html
