Obituary of Dan E. Collis, Jr.

Dan was born in Lake Geneva, WI to Dan and Louise Collis (both deceased). He was raised in Michigan with his 3 older sisters, Nancy, Roxie (deceased) and Sandy.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era, and then went to work for the U. S. government as an Electronics Systems Analyst, completing his career in Ruskin, FL in 1999. Upon his retirement he was ordained to the ministry and served as Senior Pastor at Southside Baptist Church, Sun City, FL for 15 years. He had currently been serving as Care Ministry Pastor with Bell Shoals Apollo Beach Campus.

He is survived by his wife, Lolita Collis; Four Children: Kurk Collis (Ruth), Cheryl Jones (Michael), Dan E. Collis (Kelly) and Dan L. Collis; Six Grandchildren: Sheila Wolfe (Rusty), Craig Stewart (Mary), Darin Collis, Ryan Collis, Jordan Collis and Caleb Collis. Eight Great-Grandchildren: Devin Wolfe, Christopher Wolfe, Austin Wolfe, Kimberly Collis, Damian Collis, Clare Stewart, Sarah Stewart and Mason Stewart, also his mother-in-law, Mildred Aumack. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Stewart.

Dan was affectionately known as “Pastor Dan” to all who knew and loved him. His life’s passion was to serve the Lord by sharing the gospel and ministering to others.
