Obituary of John Raymond Torchia

On 12/1/2018 John Raymond Torchia passed away at his home in Sun City Center, Fl., at the age of 79. He was born in 1939 in Rochester, N.Y. to Ralph Torchia and Eleanor Ceresola. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Linda; sons, John J., Peter J.; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren and favorite niece, Donna. Predeceased by his parents, sister, Josephine, and son, Ralph.

As a young adult John owned an electrical contracting business and a teen night club. He joined Eastman Kodak in 1967 as an electrician and was always appreciative of the opportunities Kodak provided for him to develop and advance. He held many positions including supervisory and management and retired from Kodak China Region as Deputy General Manager, Shantou Plant. He quickly returned to work as a consultant for both Kodak and G.E. in Maine and China. John loved to be involved in building things, especially large factories, but he was most proud of mentoring many men and women  in the US and China, providing them with opportunities for advancement and personal development.

In 1999 he and Linda moved their residence to Sun City Center, Fl. where they discovered and loved an active community of warm friendly people. In 2008 they began spending summers in Ft. Collins Colorado where they enjoyed the mountains and more friends.
