It has been my special honor to be a friend of Carol Cox. We talked on the phone, loved talking about WWII (she was in the war effort making bullets!) . She talked about her dancing at her clubs at night and she was energetic, even in her 90s still delivering newspaper flyers to other residents in her home. She loved her daughter Paula who was a tireless caregiver these past years. Carol was NOT easy to shop for. A wrong brand of hair spray bought for her? There would be a price to pay! She was funny, even up to end she had me laughing. Once I visited her at breakfast and she bragged how she had eaten a big donut for breakfast and had another one to take to her room. When I queried her had she eaten any cereal or an egg, she paused and looked me in the eye, and gave a resounding 'NO!" Then we both laughed.
i enjoyed staying after church with her, it had become our routine. She loved our church more than anything, and would tell me each time Pastor Jack had visited. It meant everything to her. Paula was remarkable in getting Carol and her walker filled to the brim with heavy items, into the van. I miss Carol so much. She was a special part of my life and I am better for having known her.
