Obituary of Jean Louise Noble

Jean was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Tyler Hill, PA.  She was the first of her family to be born in a hospital. She had two brothers Earl and Paul and a sister Bernice, all born at home.  Ironically, she was raised on a dairy farm, but didn’t like milk.  She was also the first female in the family to attend college.  She was married to John Ellis Noble Jr. in 1945 when he returned from serving in World War II.  She was just 19 at the time.  A baby girl, Mary Jane, followed in 1947 and a move to Williamsport, PA.  The next move was to Bloomingdale, NJ where the couple bought a lovely old stone house.  Jean’s father, Harry Jackson, died in 1951 and her mother Pearl, needing help, moved in with her family.  Just one year later in 1952, Jean’s husband met with an accident at work and was killed.  Jean, who was the “baby girl” of the family had always been taken care of by the men in her life, was now left with no help, and a little girl and mother to support.  She decided to return to East Stroudsburg College to finish the two years of college she needed to get a teaching degree.  It paid off, she was able to return to the stone house in New Jersey and get a job teaching.  She supported her family with the teacher’s salary and taught primary grades for 37 years, helping many children in Bloomingdale, NJ along the way.  On weekends, she would often take her daughter and mother to visit her sister’s family in Milanville, PA.  Jean also loved to travel and went to Cape Cod, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada and Europe several times with family and friends.  After she retired, she decided to move to Sun City Center, FL to be near her sister, Bernice Dillmuth.  Gradually more family moved to Florida including her niece, Sandra Dillmuth, her nephews, Roger and Douglas Dillmuth, her daughter and son in law, Mary Jane and Robert Tarr as well as Robert Tarr’s brother, Richard and his wife Andrea. She made new friends in Sun City Center but still stayed in touch with her old friends in NJ. She enjoyed ceramics, bridge, golf and AAUW activities. Memorial services will be 2 pm Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, Fla. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Critter Adoption and Rescue, Inc. (C.A.R.E.) 1529 27th Street SE., Ruskin, Florida 33570.
