Obituary of Karen Eliss Butterfield

Karen Eliss Landry Butterfield 69, world traveler, lover of good food and fine jewelry, enbarked on her solo, first  class, ultimate all expenes paid, journey to her final destination on June 11.  Her increasing leg pain turned out to be stage four multiple cancers when correctly diagnosed at Moffitt cancer center.  Her tumors had invaded bone, her spinal cord, both lungs and her heart. Karen overcame multiple surgeries, hospital stays, radiation treatments and ten rounds of chemotherapy with her smile and infectious laugh in place.   When informed of her prognosis and the inability to have surgery to remove the tumors dues to the advanced stage cancer, Karen chose to spend her final days at home with her husband James and her current pug daughters Xian and Shanghai.   She is survived by her brother Norman Landry, of Columbus Ohio and his family as well as her husband Jim's family.
